CitySuites 2 secures planning approval
The sister development for Vita Group’s CitySuites luxury serviced apartment scheme, has secured the green light.
Salford City Council’s planning committee approved the scheme at its meeting on Thursday, 16 November 2017.
The planning application is to redevelop a 1.9-acre site currently used for parking which is bounded by the existing CitySuites site on Chapel Street, the railway line, Greengate and a railway depot.
The new CitySuites building will be 18 storeys high, providing 147 serviced apartments.
Included within the accommodation mix would be five three-bedroom ‘Super Suites’ located between the 15th and 18th floors. Occupiers would be able to benefit from a range of amenities including a residents’ lounge, a gym, a library and a swimming pool.
Work is scheduled to start in the summer of 2018 following the demolition of the existing viaduct structure, which will begin immediately.
Michele Steel, strategic planning director of Vita Group, said: “With Embankment 101 and CitySuites, the whole Embankment area is really starting to take shape so we’re delighted with the decision to enhance the area further and we’re looking forward to starting on site.”
John Badman, director of CallisonRTKL, added: “We are pleased to have worked collaboratively with Vita Group to design a scheme that has been given the seal of approval.”
